Frequently Asked Questions

How can I request a briefing or presentation?

For briefing requests from government agencies, research institutions, or other organisations, please contact us at admin@certesinstitute.org with details of your requirements.

Are your publications freely available?

Yes, we are committed to open access. Our research publications are freely available on our Research page.

How can I work with Certes Institute?

We welcome enquiries about research positions, collaborations, and advisory relationships. Please see our Team page for more information about opportunities.

Are donations tax-deductible?

We are not accepting donations at this time. Certes has not finished instantiating itself :-)

Will I have to give up my IP rights if I work with Certes?

Probably not, as long as you are working towards charitable purposes. Certes will generally lay claim to as light a touch on IP as possible to satisfy grantmakers' requirements and our own preferences for open publication. Some decisions to not publish certain research may restrict your rights to publish work, but these decisions will generally rest with the researchers. You may give up some commercialisation or exclusive property rights due to the charitable nature of Certes' work and mission.

I am doing something related to catastrophic and existential risk in Australia and need operational support. Can Certes help?

Maybe. Certes provides management, operational, administrative, and logistical support for work in this space. We can't provide direct funding or grants, policy advocacy, legal or financial advice, curriculum or training design, or academic accreditation. But if your work involves catastrophic and existential risk research or operations in Australia, reach out — we may be able to help or connect you with the right infrastructure.
